From the ages of 7 to 9 during the last war (now 75) I lived in Beaconsfield Road and spent much of my time sitting in the front row at the “Dukes” as we called it
My Auntie, Mabel, worked at the till for many years. I used to use the side entrance which cost 7 pence ( first few rows) old money and often took my tea with me to eat during the performances !
Many times I would see the A & B film twice and due to this past experienced I am now quite knowledgeable on the Films of those day.
During my courting days as a young man I would visit the “Dukes” in the Royal Box as we called it. Needless to say I did not watch too many films during those visits !
